Our Link Loves series recognizes the work of amazing writers, thinkers, and creators of all kinds.

This week we’re starting off with the basics. First up, check out this 2019 article from Henry A. Davidsen to get a better understanding of what comprises your image. You might be surprised to find that your image is made up of more than just your appearance.

Next up is a 2018 article from Beth Divine covering her journey into the world of image consulting Most folks are familiar with the term “personal stylist,” but fewer understand what an image consultant is trained to do. Beth’s piece gives a little background on the field as well as what it means to be certified by the Association of Image Consultants International (AICI).

So what can an image consultant do for you?

Carol Davidson describes a common situation--a closet stuffed with clothing and nothing to wear. Carol makes a case for clearing out some of the closet clutter and spending a little time working creatively with what’s left. When priorities (or bodies!) change, as they do, a good personal stylist or image consultant can help you make the transition.

For something a little different, check out this podcast with Dr. Carolyn Mair from the American Psychological Association. Dr. Mair is a cognitive psychologist and author of “The Psychology of Fashion.” In this podcast, she discusses overproduction, overconsumption, mental health, behavior change, and diversity in the fashion industry.

“If you’re stressed about what you’re wearing or if you’re thinking about what you’re wearing, you don’t have the capacity to think fully on the job at hand.”

Carolyn Mair, PhD

Finally, we have a TEDx talk from author and voice coach Caroline Goyder on speaking with confidence.
